At Ponderosa Family Dental, we love providing dental care to our many patients – and we are proud of the positive impact we have had on the oral health of countless people throughout Central Oregon.
With that said, we understand that not all of our patients are as excited about dental care as we are. In fact, some patients downright dread coming to the dentist, and they are filled with anxiety for days or weeks in advance of their appointments. If that sounds like you, the sedation dentistry services we offer can help to put your mind at ease and make your dental care an easy and relaxing experience.
The primary function of sedation dentistry is to help relax the patient while they are in the chair receiving treatment. If you are nervous about having your teeth worked on, you might struggle to sit still, you may feel anxious the whole time, and the experience will be an unpleasant one. By properly using sedation techniques, we can help you relax, and the appointment will be completed before you know it.
That makes the day of your appointment far more enjoyable, but that’s only the start of how you’ll benefit from sedation. Perhaps just as important is the peace of mind that you’ll be able to enjoy prior to the day you come to visit our Bend location. Knowing that you have sedation planned for your visit, you won’t be so nervous about the appointment, and it will just be another to-do on your schedule, rather than something you are dreading.
With sedation dentistry, it’s not a one-size-fits-all plan that will work for all patients. Instead, we’ll talk with you and discuss the available options based on your needs before deciding on what form of sedation to use. For many, the appropriate option will be nitrous oxide, a safe gas that will reduce your stress level and help you to relax. In addition to the great results that nitrous oxide provides, it is also appealing because the effects wear off quickly and you can get back to life as usual right after your appointment.
We understand that nitrous oxide isn’t going to be enough for all of our patients, which is why oral sedation is also available. In this case, you’ll take a pill in advance of your appointment, and the results will be more significant than when using nitrous oxide. You won’t be put under using this technique, but you’ll be quite sedated and likely unbothered by the treatments that are being completed.
There is nothing more important in our office than the satisfaction of each and every patient. We want you to leave not only feeling happy with the service you received, but also the experience you had with us. Sedation dentistry can help alleviate the nerves you may be feeling about upcoming dental care, so be sure to ask about this option if you are anxious or stressed. We are here to serve you!
